Fox has slow played their upcoming Fantastic Four reboot and it will be interesting to see how that plays out as it seems one of the complaints about this weekend’s Avengers: Age of Ultron is fans feel they’ve seen too much of the film before its release. Of course, that won’t stop them from heading to the box office en masse, but Fantastic Four doesn’t have that kind of following.
Set for an Aug. 7 release, Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan, Jamie Bell, Toby Kebbell and Tim Blake Nelson in a contemporary re-imagining of Marvel’s original and longest-running superhero team, centers on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy.
Just recently fans got a little nervous about Teller’s character in the film as he plays the stretchy Mr. Fantastic, but a blurb on the official site saying the character can “warp space around him” rather than stretch seemed to concern some people. Simon Kinberg, however, has spoken to HitFix and clarified the issue saying, “The intent was to try to explain the power with some sort of scientific explanation, but as you pointed out, most of his powers defy what we know about physics. The upshot of it is that he stretches in his movie. That is his power. That’s the simplest explanation.”
