‘The Equalizer’ Gets a Sequel, Denzel Washington Expected to Return

Are you ready for some more equalizing? Are you sure? I don’t think you are. Well, you better get ready because more equalizing will happen. After making $192 million worldwide on a $55 million budget, THR reports Sony has decided to move forward with a sequel to last year’s action thriller The Equalizer by Antoine Fuqua. This feels like the kind of movie that would have made a boatload on home video, so I guess a sequel makes sense.

Denzel Washington is expected to return for the sequel, because who else can equalize the way Denzel equalizes? No one. Not even Edward Woodward, who originally played the titular Equalizer, Robert McCall, in the 1980s television series. The film also starred Chloë Grace Moretz, but there is no word about her on this sequel.

Full disclosure: I haven’t seen The Equalizer, despite hearing okay things about it and the want to see Denzel equalize. I will probably catch up with it at some point, especially if this sequel does make it past the announcement phase. The most I’ve ever seen of anything revolving The Equalizer is in this clip from The Wolf of Wall Street.
