Warner Bros. has already lined up Ezra Miller (We Need to Talk About Kevin) to star as the title character in their DC Comics adaptation The Flash, currently slated for a March 23, 2018 release and now The Wrap is confirming rumors The Lego Movie and 22 Jump Street writer/director duo Phil Lord and Chris Miller have come on board to write a treatment, though they have not signed on to direct yet.
Lord and Miller, however, are still being courted by Sony for a Ghostbusters movie and also have been The Lego Movie 2.
As for the movement on The Flash being we are still three years away from its release, it makes sense considering it’s only logical to assume Miller will be playing the character, at least in cameo form, in one of the multiple DC Comics films coming out between now and March 2018. This includes the likes of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman and even The Justice League Part One. It wouldn’t make sense to hire Miller only to wait and have him not appear as the character for four years from the first time he was officially announced… would it?
