It’s not a surprise, but Sam Taylor-Johnson will not return to direct Fifty Shades Darker, the sequel to this year’s smash hit Fifty Shades of Grey, which is now over $558 million worldwide on a miniscule budget of only $40 million. The reports of Taylor-Johnson’s head-butting with “Fifty Shades” author E.L. James were commonplace ahead of the film’s release and James has even said she wants more control over the next film, including writing the screenplay herself as the first film was written by Kelly Marcel (Saving Mr. Banks) who is also confirmed to not be returning.
