Morena Baccarin has taken to Twitter to confirm she’s joined the cast of Deadpool as production on the film is underway in Vancouver. Her Twitter post, which you can see below, confirms she’ll be playing Vanessa Carlysle (aka Copycat) in the film, a mutant shape-shifter that first meets the titular character, Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds), as a prostitute. There’s more to the character here, but I assume her back-story will be altered to fit the new film.
Meanwhile, Reynolds recently spoke with Short List and says he hopes it will be embraced by even the most critical of fanboys:
“I’m incredibly happy about it – we’ve got a director that understands that world, and writers with a slavish devotion to the canon of that character. That’s the most important aspect: it’s made in a way the most critical of fanboys could embrace. Well, that’s the hope.”
T.J. Miller will play Weasel while Ed Skrein and Gina Carano co-star with Tim Miller directing for a February 12, 2016 release.
