I expect the trailer for Child 44 will be premiering any moment as eOne has had the UK trailer ready for weeks now and has yet to drop it, but for now all you get is the following teaser poster for the upcoming Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman and Noomi Rapace starrer based on the Tom Rob Smith novel.
Described as a politically-charged serial killer thriller, Child 44 os set in 1953 Soviet Russia, chronicling the crisis of conscience for secret police agent Leo Demidov (Hardy), who loses status, power and home when he refuses to denounce his own wife, Raisa (Rapace), as a traitor. Exiled from Moscow to a grim provincial outpost, Leo and Raisa join forces with General Mikhail Nesterov (Oldman) to track down a serial killer who preys on young boys. Their quest for justice threatens a system-wide cover-up enforced by Leo’s psychopathic rival Vasili (Joel Kinnaman), who insists “There is no crime in Paradise.”
Directed by Daniel Espinosa (Safe House), the film is set for an April 17 release, check out the poster below and stay tuned for the trailer, which I wouldn’t be surprised to see later today.
