Felicity Jones is enjoying some well-deserved attention for her performance in The Theory of Everything, which is sure to get her an Oscar nomination, but it seems the attention has also helped her with a new role in a high-profile upcoming feature. Deadline reports Jones will co-star with Tom Hanks in Inferno, the third go ’round for Hanks as symbologist Robert Langdon following The Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons. Ron Howard also returns to direct the film, which is set for for an October 14, 2016 release.
In the film, Langdon is drawn into a world centered on Dante’s Inferno, dealing with a riddle drawing from Dante’s dark epic poem. Jones is in talks to play Sienna Brooks, a doctor who must help him along the way.
Neither of the first two movies were all that good, but they generated more than $1.2 billion worldwide, which means another one was inevitable, but are audiences still interested? I guess we’ll find out in 682 days. Man, it’s almost like it’s just around the corner.
