Comedy Team “Key & Peele” Ready to Take on the Movies with ‘Keanu’

I don’t get a chance to watch a ton of TV, but thanks to YouTube I’ve become pretty familiar with Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele, two very funny dudes who together comprise the sketch comedy team “Key & Peele“. Though the name isn’t terribly original, their work is, and from the sounds of it the duo are tackling a project at New Line that will serve as their first joint feature film.

Titled Keanu, the film tells the story of friends who pose as drug dealers in order to infiltrate a criminal network and retrieve a stolen feline. It was written by Peele and Alex Rubens (“Community“), and as of now it sounds like Peter Atencio will direct. Atencio has directed most every episode of “Key & Peele” for Comedy Central, so if Peele and Rubens can take their idea and make it work over the course of a feature film, I’d assume fans of the show will be pleased with the end product.

Keanu is set to begin shooting next spring, and you can check out a clip below to get a taste for the comedy of “Key & Peele” if you are unfamiliar. [Deadline]
