Neil Patrick Harris to Host the 2015 Oscars

A lot of people were hoping Neil Patrick Harris would be selected to host last year’s Oscars, but those duties fell on the shoulders of Ellen DeGeneres and as far as I’m concerned she did a great job, attracting the highest ratings for the Oscar telecast in 14 years.

However, it won’t be back-to-back years for Ellen as fans will now get their wish. Announced on Twitter by Oscars producer Neil Meron, Harris will host the 2015 Oscar Awards, set to air live on ABC on Sunday, February 22, from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

Harris, who stars in David Fincher‘s Gone Girl now in theaters, has hosted the Tony Awards over the past two years and hosted the 2013 Emmys to much acclaim.

“It is truly an honor and a thrill to be asked to host this year’s Academy Awards. I grew up watching the Oscars and was always in such awe of some of the greats who hosted the show,” said Harris. “To be asked to follow in the footsteps of Johnny Carson, Billy Crystal, Ellen DeGeneres, and everyone else who had the great fortune of hosting is a bucket list dream come true.”
