‘Dracula Untold’ Tops Friday Box Office, ‘Gone Girl’ Likely To Top Weekend

With $8.9 million on Friday, Dracula Untold took the #1 spot on its opening day. Considering that total also includes Thursday night numbers it isn’t a big victory over second place Gone Girl, which brought in $8.15 million on its way to what should be a first place finish for the weekend as the two films look to finish in the $25 million area.

Taking the third position is Disney’s Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day with $5.2 million, which will likely have the film finishing in the high teens.

All the way down in fifth is the sagging new release The Judge starring Robert Downey Jr. and Robert Duvall, opening with $4.4 million. With fellow R-rated films to compete against such as Gone Girl and The Equalizer, it doesn’t really matter that The Judge is a different film, there just isn’t enough R-rated audience members to take in a film that has been so poorly reviewed. Expect it to finish somewhere around $12 million for the weekend and that could be pushing it.
