There has been so much movement on a new Ghostbusters movie as of late it seems it may actually happen, but things have shifted from this being Ghostbusters 3, which was to be a direct sequel starring original Ghost busters Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson, to what has become a Ghostbusters reboot following the death of Ramis and Ivan Reitman‘s subsequent departure from the director’s chair.
Now the film is being shepherded by Paul Feig (Bridemaids) with the intent of delivering an all-female group of paranormal police with no connection to the previous films and Feig has now brought on Katie Dippold to pen the script.
Dippold wrote the screenplay for The Heat, of which Feig directed and starred Melissa McCarthy and Sandra Bullock. She also penning a sequel to that film as well as has spent time writing for “Parks and Recreation”.
There doesn’t seem to be a timeline to rush the new Ghostbusters film into production, but they certainly seem to have found their way after years of struggle trying to put this thing together. [THR]
