David Lynch’s ‘Twin Peaks’ Returning in 2016 on Showtime

There were rumblings recently following the recent release of “Twin Peaks: The Entire Mystery” that the series just might be returning for another run on television and today that news has been confirmed.

Deadline reports the series will begin production in 2015 with David Lynch directing all nine episodes in a brand new season written by Lynch with “Twin Peaks” co-creator Mark Frost. Along with the announcement has come a brief one-minute teaser, which you can watch below.

The new season will be set in the present day, and will continue the lore of the original series. The official description says it will provide “long-awaited answers and a satisfying conclusion for the series’ passionate fan base.”

No word on casting or whether or not Kyle MacLachlan will return, but it is definitely official and it will begin airing on Showtime in 2016. Check out the teaser below.
