Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu‘s Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) is a movie I would prefer to see sooner rather than later so I could have a little more to say other than “critics that have seen it like it” every time I have something new to share from Searchlight’s marketing team, but such is the life living in Seattle. Then again, it will begin hitting theaters in just over two weeks from now — October 17 — so I’ll be seeing it soon enough, getting to see for myself what all the fuss is about.
Starring Michael Keaton, the film is described as a black comedy, telling the story of an actor (Keaton) – famous for portraying an iconic superhero – as he struggles to mount a Broadway play. In the days leading up to opening night, he battles his ego and attempts to recover his family, his career, and himself.
Along with Keaton the film co-stars Edward Norton, Emma Stone, Naomi Watts, Zach Galifianakis, Andrea Riseborough and Amy Ryan.
