Set to premiere at the New York Film Festival next week, The Los Angeles Times has premiered a new picture from Paul Thomas Anderson‘s Inherent Vice featuring Joaquin Phoenix and our first look at Reese Witherspoon and her beehive as Penny Kimball.
The film is based on the Thomas Pynchon novel of the same name, following 1960s stoner P.I. Larry “Doc” Sportello (Phoenix) who is hired by Shasta (Katherine Waterston), an ex-girlfriend, to investigate the disappearance of her wealthy lover (Eric Roberts). Josh Brolin, Owen Wilson, Jena Malone, Joanna Newsom and Benicio del Toro co-star.
The pic is hitting theaters starting on December 12 so the reviews out of New York will be highly scrutinized as it’s chances at the Oscars will be on the line.
