The Amazing Spider-Man 2
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 on DVD Blu-ray today
For as much as everyone on the Internet claims to hate this movie it will be interesting to see how well it does in DVD and Blu-ray sales. Personally, while I didn’t love The Amazing Spider-Man 2, I also didn’t hate it with all the fiery passion everyone else seems to have, but hey, what can you do? It clearly has contributed to the sinking of the franchise as Sony attempts to refocus and move their attention from the webslinger for a while and over to films spinning off from this latest attempt at creating a franchise.

Only Lovers Left Alive
Only Lovers Left Alive on DVD Blu-ray today
One of the best films of 2014 and one I was recently asked if it was worth a blind buy. That’s a tough one, but I think it’s safe to say that if Only Lovers Left Alive, a “laughing quietly to myself” film about modern day vampires starring Tilda Swinton and Tom Hiddleston appeals to you then it most certainly is worth a blind buy, but if you know nothing of Jim Jarmusch you might want to rent it first… he isn’t exactly a general audience director. You can, however, read my review and maybe that will help.

Fading Gigolo
A fun film worth a rental, don’t bother buying it as I can’t imagine you revisiting it too often if ever.

The Quiet Ones
This little horror came and went without so much as a peep. Word was it wasn’t too good. I never saw it so I can’t tell you much else.

Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down! (Criterion Collection)
I have never seen this film from Pedro Almodóvar and my only knowledge of it is that it stars Antonio Banderas and is the film Penelope Cruz often cites as the movie that made her fall in love with the iconic auteur. Criterion has put together what looks like a great package so maybe one day I’ll give it a watch.

Y tu mamá también (Criterion Collection)
I have seen Alfonso Cuaron‘s Y tu mama tambien, but it was a while ago and I hardly remember it outside of loving the cinematography. It’s the film that put Cuaron on the map and one I should probably revisit one of these days. For more information on the Criterion release click here.
