Your Box Office Predictions as ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Takes Off with $11.2 Million On Thursday

Guardians of the Galaxy is off to a massive start, hauling in $11.2 million on Thursday evening for the largest Thursday night opening so far this year, topping the $10.2 million brought in by fellow Marvel feature, Captain America: The Winter Soldier back in April.

Looking at the predictions the readers definitely have the edge on Laremy as this one is going to make more than $75 million this weekend, one of the best openings of Summer 2014 not to mention what will be the largest August opening ever, currently The Bourne Ultimatum at $69.3 million.

Meanwhile, the James Brown biopic, Get on Up didn’t have a large Thursday presence, bringing in $371,000 from 1,769 theaters. It will open in 2,466 total theaters this weekend, and should be fine hitting the $13 million tracking, but the readers as well as Laremy are both over $16 million and that doesn’t look likely.

I’ve included Laremy’s predictions and the average reader predictions directly below and I’ll be back on Sunday with box office estimates. To see Laremy’s full list of predictions and all 90 reader predictions for this weekend click here.
