Naomi Watts Set for ‘Divergent’ Sequels, Hounsou Joins ‘Tarzan’ and Byrne Takes ‘Something’

Naomi Watts has joined the cast of Insurgent, the sequel to Divergent which has already started shooting for a March 20, 2015 release. Watts will be playing Evelyn, leader of the Factionless, a role that will also be featured in the third film, Allegiant, which will be split into two films released in March 2016 and 2017. [THR]

Djimon Hounsou is set to play play Chief Mbonga in the David Yates-directed Tarzan, putting him alongside Alexander Skarsgard as the title character, Margot Robbie (The Wolf of Wall Street), Samuel L. Jackson and Christoph Waltz. The film is set for a July 1, 2016 release. [Deadline]

Rose Byrne is set to star in The Something, a sci-fi comedy about astronauts who get lost in space, with former “Late Show With David Letterman” head writer Rodney Rothman directing. The film is set up at Universal. [THR]
