My attachment to H.R. Giger is his Oscar-award winning work on the Alien franchise as he is responsible for much of the design you see in Ridley Scott‘s 1979 original right on through to Alien: Resurrection as well as the Alien vs. Predator films. In a bit of sad news, the artist passed away yesterday at the age of 74.
Giger’s work, however, did reach much further than just the Alien franchise at the movies as he also worked on Species (1995), Poltergeist II and worked on the Batmobile design in Batman Forever. He also contributed to the Alejandro Jodoworsky‘s Dune, which ultimately never saw the light of day.
Giger’s work is currently on display within a medieval castle in Gruyeres, Switzerland.
