Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige THR suggests it will be the Captain.
Pamela McClintock reports it will be Marvel’s Captain America 3 taking the May date, putting it head-to-head with Zack Snyder‘s Man of Steel sequel in what would easily be one of the dumbest moves either studio could possibly make and one that is entirely unlikely to actually take place.
Depending on how Captain America: The Winter Soldier does when it opens on April 4 I find it hard to believe they wouldn’t just stake out the same date two years from now, especially with the month wide open at this point. It’s unlikely either film would actually move forward in the same month, given X-Men: Apocalypse already has the May 27, 2016 release date.
That said, in other Captain America news, Sebastian Stan, who plays the titular Winter Soldier in Captain America 2, tells Newsarama he signed a nine-picture deal with Marvel before beginning work on Captain America: The First Avenger. Coming Soon speculates this means the studio may emulate the comics in which Stan’s character (aka Bucky) would eventually take over for the Captain following the superhero’s demise.
