Marvel has released a new poster promoting the upcoming April 4 release of Captain America: The Winter Soldier and I can’t help but wonder how well this film will end up doing.
Captain America: The First Avenger grossed $370.5 million worldwide on a $140 million budget. Not too bad, though considering the amount of money spent on marketing I can’t imagine it was too profitable until it arrived on DVD and Blu-ray. I expect the second one cost just about as much and we recently saw Thor: The Dark World improve about 20% on the original. Do you see The Winter Soldier pulling in $70 million more than its predecessor?
I guess given this one is in 3D and IMAX it shouldn’t be a difficult task to pull off, not to mention the fact it should get a bump from the success of The Avengers as well as a little nod to Cap in Thor 2 as Loki (Tom Hiddleston) did a little Chris Evans impression. You gotta hand it to those Marvel folks, they sure do know how to make sure you never forget a single one of their characters.
