NBC Giving ‘Heroes’ a Second Chance with ‘Heroes Reborn’

I think I ended up watching one-and-a-half seasons of “Heroes” before giving up on it. I enjoyed Zachary Quinto‘s character, but that became the only reason to watch and then even Sylar became boring. Clearly I wasn’t alone. After the series fizzled out in its fourth season in 2010 you didn’t hear a peep, but it seems the folks at NBC aren’t ready to give up on it just yet.

Just announced, NBC is bringing the series back for a 13-episode arc with original creator and executive producer Tim Kring at the helm. The new standalone mini-series will be titled “Heroes Reborn” and it will premiere some time in 2015.

NBC will launch a digital series prior to the 2015 premiere introducing the characters and new storylines. This leveraging of social media is a way for fans to re-engage with what was one for the true pioneers in multiplatform storytelling.

I guess I’d be willing to give it a try. At the very least it will be interesting to see who they cast and what kind of special powers they’ll be given considering we are certainly at a peak in superhero storytelling at this point in time and there doesn’t seem to be any sign of that trend slowing down.
