Your Box Office Predictions for ‘That Awkward Moment’, ‘Labor Day’, ‘I, Frankenstein’ and ‘Ride Along’

The numbers are in and we aren’t looking at any big discrepancies this weekend as Laremy and the readers are virtually sympatico on this weekend’s box office predictions as $700,000 is the largest separation when it comes to Laremy’s predictions and the reader aggregate.

At the top is That Awkward Moment, a film I tend to think you all may be undervaluing here, but now that I’ve learned the film is tracking at around $11.2 million, I might have to take that back.

The largest difference on the board is for newcomer Labor Day with Laremy going with a low $5 million and the readers predicting, on average, $5.7 million. Tracking pegs the film around $6m. Personally I’m just curious to see the CinemaScore on the film, but then again, I also expect the audience to be dominated by women, which I assume will like it much more than I did… which was not at all.

Finally, while it wasn’t on the board, one reader brought up the release of the sing-along version of Frozen hitting theaters this weekend, arriving in 2,057 of the 2,754 theaters the film is playing in. Tracking pegs it at $7 million. I know it wasn’t an official prediction this weekend, but care to take any guesses in the comments below?

I’ve included Laremy’s predictions and the average reader predictions directly below and I’ll be back on Sunday with box office estimates. To see Laremy’s full list of predictions and all 90 reader predictions for this weekend click here.
