I still have at least three films competing for Best Animated Feature to watch, including Ernest & Celestine (which is made by the wonderful talents behind A Town Called Panic), A Letter to Momo and O Apóstolo from director Fernando Cortizo, which I only just received a couple days ago.
Films that made the shortlist that I have not received screeners for include The Fake, Khumba, The Legend of Sarila, Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie – Rebellion and Rio: 2096 A Story of Love and Fury. So no telling what will come of those, or who has actually seen them to comment intelligently.
That said, I’ve just updated my Best Animated Feature predictions and Frozen remains my #1 even though Hayao Miyazaki‘s The Wind Rises seems to be the critical darling of the season. We’ll see how that shakes out over the coming months.
Here are my current predictions.
- Frozen
- The Wind Rises
- The Croods
- Monsters University
- Ernest & Celestine
