Listen to Marcus Mumford and Oscar Isaac Sing ‘Fare Thee Well’ from ‘Inside Llewyn Davis’

The Oscar race for Best Original Song is always a curious one and never easy to predict in advance so I typically don’t even attempt to take a look at it until the Academy issues a shortlist. However, barring some sort of rule preventing it from contending, I have to imagine “Fare Three Well (Dink’s Song)” from Inside Llewyn Davis will be a major contender and now you can listen to the complete track featuring Marcus Mumford and the film’s title star, Oscar Isaac.

Set to hit theaters on December 6, I caught Llewyn Davis at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year and it’s one of four “A+” reviews I’ve handed out this year. Here’s how I opened the review:

It’s been 13 years since Joel and Ethan Coen gave us the bluegrass energy of O Brother, Where Art Thou? and now they’ve jumped forward 30 years to 1961 and the folk music scene of Greenwich Village with Inside Llewyn Davis, a film so perfect it appears almost effortless. Opening in the Gaslight Cafe, the film’s title character croons on stage under the soft glow of the spotlight, capturing the attention of the audience to the point one man’s cigarette is only a bent stick of ashes, defying gravity as he looks on without moving.

I really can’t wait until more people get to see this. For now, check out “Fare Thee Well” directly below. You can also purchase the soundtrack, releasing on November 12, [amazon asin=”B00DVZ414C” text=”right here”]. [The Playlist]
