Originally titled Lego: The Piece of Resistance, then simply LEGO it now appears the upcoming Lego-based movie at Warner Bros. will be called just that, The Lego Movie and yesterday the studio released the above title treatment. At the time, I was a little too uninspired to post it, but this morning I came up with this snazzy little tongue-twister of a headline so I went with it.
The film is directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller and features a voice cast comprised of Chris Pratt, Will Ferrell, Elizabeth Banks, Liam Neeson, Will Arnett, Nick Offerman, Alison Brie and Morgan Freeman. As for the story, unless things have changed, here’s what I have:
The Lego Movie follows Emmet (voiced by Chris Pratt), an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average LEGO mini-figure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world. He is drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant, a journey for which Emmet is hopelessly and hilariously under-prepared.
The film is slated to hit theaters on February 7, 2014.
