First Poster for the Jackie Robinson Story, ’42’

The upcoming Jackie Robinson pic, 42, made my top 50 Most Anticipated Movies of 2013 list and I have a hard time believing such a great story could possibly be bad. After all, of all sports, baseball seems to translate to big screen storytelling the best and you match that with a story like Robinson’s and you pretty much have a lay-up for quality.

Directed by Brian Helgeland (A Knight’s Tale), the story focuses on Robinson (Chadwick Boseman) and his breaking of Major League Baseball’s color barrier when he joined the Brooklyn Dodgers. The story will follow Robinson and Dodger’s general manager Branch Rickey (Harrison Ford), the MLB executive who first signed Robinson to the minors and then helped to bring him up to the show.

Today the first poster for the film has been revealed and it’s a pretty good one. If you haven’t yet seen the trailer, you can find that here.

42 hits theaters on April 12.
