Top Ten Most Anticipated Movies of 2013

The Bling Ring

TBA

Sofia Coppola has turned out one hell of an interesting filmography and her decision to turn her filmmaking style to a story focused on the real life celebrity burglaring group dubbed “The Bling Ring” sounds like a lot of fun. You see the talent involved up above and when Emma Watson was asked about how she prepped for the role she said, “I just watched a ton of reality TV… I was doing an English course [at Brown University]. So I would go from reading Virginia Woolf to [watching] Kim Kardashian. I kind of loved it, this mix of super-high and super-low culture. I think it was a nice balance.”

Additional members of the cast include Leslie Mann, Georgia Rock and Maika Monroe and some celebrities are rumored to have shot scenes in the film including Paris Hilton, Kirsten Dunst and Gavin Rossdale.

#6

Foxcatcher

TBA

Bennett Miller‘s Moneyball was one of the best films of 2011 and he’s back with Foxcatcher, a film based on the true story of John du Pont (Steve Carell), the paranoid schizophrenic heir to the du Pont chemical fortune who built a wrestling training facility called Team Foxcatcher on his Pennsylvania estate. David Schultz (Mark Ruffalo) was a longtime friend of du Pont who had repeatedly tried to help him before du Pont shot and killed him in 1996.

I have a few more details on the story, but I’m not sure if they are spoilers or not so I won’t go any further. The film co-stars Channing Tatum, Sienna Miller, Anthony Michael Hall and Vanessa Redgrave.

Star Trek Into Darkness

May 17

If there is a blockbuster to anticipate in 2013 I don’t see how you can say it’s anything but J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek Into Darkness. Speculation is running rampant as to the film’s villain played by Benedict Cumberbatch is. I haven’t watched the trailer yet, but while his character’s name is John Harrison, many are still seeing him as something of a return to Khan. I’m doing my best to know as little as possible as even knowing that much is annoying, but such is the nature of my business.

The film features returning stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Anton Yelchin, John Cho, Simon Pegg and Karl Urban as well as newcomers Alice Eve, Peter Weller, Noel Clarke and, as I already mentioned, Benedict Cumberbatch.

Here’s the full synopsis followed by the latest trailer if you feel the need.

In Summer 2013, pioneering director J.J. Abrams will deliver an explosive action thriller that takes Star Trek Into Darkness.

When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis.

With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk (Chris Pine) leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man (Benedict Cumberbatch) weapon of mass destruction.

As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.
