Disney has acquired film rights to the young adult novel “Wings” and will develop the best-selling Aprilynne Pike title as a star vehicle for Miley Cyrus, reports Variety.
Cyrus would play a seemingly ordinary girl named Laurel who discovers she is a faerie sent among humans to guard the gateway to Avalon. When Laurel is thrust into the midst of a centuries-old battle between faeries and trolls, she’s torn between a human and a faerie love, as well as her loyalties to each world.
Temple Hill, the producers of Twilight, will produce the film.
Published in May, the novel is the first of a planned four-book series. The second book will be released on June 8, 2010.
