Mondo Goes ‘Mummy,’ ‘Creature’ and ‘Invisible Man’

All last week I was writing up articles after watching three of the classic Universal monster movies for the first time upon receiving the Universal Classic Monsters: The Essential Collection on Blu-ray. The three were The Invisible Man (read that article here), The Phantom of the Opera (read that article here) and Creature from the Black Lagoon (read that article here). Ironically enough, and not at all related, Mondo has decided its next gallery show will involve the “Universal Monsters”.

The show will run from October 19 through November 10, featuring both prints and original works of art from dozens of world-renowned artists including Martin Ansin, Rick Baker, Jason Edmiston, JC Richard, Drew Struzan, Ken Taylor, Kevin Tong and others and as a result, Mondo has released the first look at three of the posters including The Invisible Man, Creature from the Black Lagoon and Boris Karloff’s The Mummy.

I was surprised and invigorated by how much I loved The Invisible Man, in particular the performance of Claude Rains, and the poster below by Francesco Francavilla is quite impressive. Ken Taylor created the poster for Creature from the Black Lagoon and the poster for The Mummy was created by Laurent Durieux. Ironically enough, The Invisible Man poster will be the cheapest of the bunch when they go on sale, priced at $45 compared to $50 for the others.

You can get a full look at the posters below and a full look at the artist roster by clicking on the image above.
