2012 Toronto Film Festival: Schedule of Screenings and Films I’ll be Reviewing

On Monday I detailed here. On it I said I would probably be able to see somewhere around 17 movies, but looking over my tentative schedule, with one day yet to have a solid plan and my final day in town occupied by only one movie, I have already scheduled myself to see 22 movies, which includes a little breathing room here and there for filing some reviews.

That said, I wanted to share my schedule so you had a general idea what to expect when it comes to reviews. This isn’t a schedule that’s set in stone, which is why I also included alternate options as sometimes gut instinct will take you into one theater when you expected to go into another and the schedule has some gaps at the Festival’s TIFF Bell Lightbox theater where I suspect some additional screenings will be added… hopefully sooner rather than later.

The notable decisions include seeing Argo on the first day when I could wait until September 12, which would allow me to see Anna Karenina on a larger screen rather than the more intimate setting I’ll be seeing it at. I’ve also decided to delay seeing The Master so I can see The Place Beyond the Pines on the morning of September 8, which I don’t think is much of a problem at this point.

I’m also torn over when I should see Brian De Palma‘s Passion as I could see it on the 9th and then see Hyde Park on Hudson in a smaller theater, or see Hyde Park on a larger screen and wait until the 13th to see Passion, which would likely mean missing Great Expectations.

Neil Jordan‘s Byzantium I don’t want to miss but it has a conflict with Joss Whedon’s Much Ado about Nothing on the 12th and I think I’ll be able to fit in both Aftershock and Yellow that same day. I just hope I’m not too tired by that point.

With all that said, here’s what the the next nine days look like. Things may change, but I just want to make sure you’re in the loop on what reviews to expect when. I’ll do my best to get them online no more than 24 hours after seeing them and if you aren’t following the site on Twitter and Facebook it would be a good idea to start doing that as I’m sure I’ll pop a few updates on both social networks and may even try to take greater advantage of my new Tumblr page for updates.
