Catching Fire. Reasons included, but were not limited to, the amount of money Lionsgate was willing to pay him as he was reportedly looking for a significant boost in salary over the $3 million he was paid to write and direct the first film.
Now, Deadline is reporting Ross’s departure is not 100% and “simply not accurate” and that he is currently off on a family vacation and couldn’t be reached.
Whether this is Deadline merely looking for attention before Ross officially bids farewell to Panem or if there is something to this remains to be seen, but Deadline seems quite confident Ross will once again be in the director’s chair.
Catching Fire is slated for a November 22, 2013 with a screenplay from Simon Beaufoy (Slumdog Millionaire).
