What interests me most about this new cover for Empire Magazine is the declaration of Prometheus as “The New Alien!” and Noomi Rapace as “The New Ripley!” I have a hard time imagining Fox agreeing to give Empire the exclusive on this new photo of Rapace as well as the story on the film without also agreeing to the terminology the mag prepared to use. Of course, I could be reading into it a bit and this is 100% Empire attempting to sell more magazines, but I think they could have sold just as many using question marks rather than exclamation points in both instances.
Suffice to say, the conversation and anticipation for Ridley Scott’s return to the world of Alien continues and I don’t think I’m alone in my anticipation. I have a poll on the homepage asking people “Are you sold on Prometheus?” and the answer currently leading the responses is “Never a question, don’t even need to watch the trailers.”
I guess the big question now is whether or not so much anticipation for the upcoming June 8 release creates a situation the film can’t live up to. Of course, I wondered something similar back in June 2010 when I asked “Does ‘Inception’ Face Unfair Expectations?” and we all know how that turned out.
As for Prometheus, we’ll find out soon enough just how good it is or isn’t, but for now here’s a new TV spot (via The Playlist) as well as a pair of wallpapers from the film and you can click on each for larger versions and if you’re really trying to dig into this world, head over here and get some financial information on Weyland Industries.
