Ugh! A ‘Skyfall’ Spoiler Seeps into My Pscyhe

A couple of little nuggets surrounding the next James Bond feature, Skyfall, popped up over the last couple days beginning with the launch of the film’s official website, including a welcome message from producer Michael G. Wilson, which you can watch at the bottom of this post. The video doesn’t really do much but it does give you a brief glimpse at a scene from the film in a neon blue room with glass walls and a character in silhouette picking up a silenced gun. Is it Daniel Craig as Bond? It doesn’t look like it to me.

Additionally, and more interestingly, MovieWeb (via Film Stage) reports an “insider” from EON Productions has told them Ralph Fiennes‘ character in the new film will actually be groomed in this 23rd Bond adventure as a replacement for Judi Dench as the new M. The character will reportedly not be named in the new film as he will go on to simply be named M.

This leads to plenty of speculation as to how Skyfall will play out and sort of pisses me off someone spoiled this news on Twitter. Typically I would have avoided the news, but since I read it I may as well continue down the path…

The plot synopsis for Skyfall reads as such:

In Skyfall, Bond’s loyalty to M is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost.

Obviously based on this information alone we can speculate that either M is kidnapped or potentially killed causing Bond to seek revenge. We can also assume that by the end of the film she will either be dead or retired. If anything, I hope she’s either killed in the first few minutes or is kidnapped and retires at the end of the film. Because if she is kidnapped and somehow dies in the film’s final moments I will be livid. No matter how it shakes out, I already know too much… must… try… to… forget…

Skyfall is being directed by Sam Mendes for a November 9, 2012 release. Now, here’s that video I mentioned earlier.
