Nine New Looks at Foster, Winslet, Waltz and Reilly in Roman Polanski’s ‘Carnage’

It’s already set to premiere In Competition at the Venice Film Festival, but will it show up in Toronto? My fingers are crossed for the late addition of Roman Polanski‘s Carnage to the Toronto Film Festival as it seems a sure thing Tomas Alfredson’s Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy won’t be headed up north. However, if it doesn’t I guess these nine new images will have to suffice, but considering Carnage runs a brief 79 minutes long these nine frames don’t necessarily represent an entire film.

If you’ve been in the dark until now, Carnage stars Jodie Foster, Kate Winslet, Christoph Waltz and John C. Reilly and is based on Yasmina Reza’s Tony Award-winning drama, set in contemporary Brooklyn, New York. Here’s the plot synopsis:

A showdown between two kids: about eleven, in a local playground. Swollen lips, broken teeth… Now the parents of the “victim” have invited the parents of the “bully” to their apartment to sort if out. Cordial banter gradually develops a razor-sharp edge as all four parents reveal their laughable contradictions and grotesque prejudices. None of them will escape the ensuing carnage.

Personally this sounds like something Mike Nichols should have directed, but I’m anxious to see what Polanski can do with a very impressive cast and a play that is supposed to be excellent. If you’d like a larger look at my full gallery of 13 images you can click here.
