A new clip and a production design featurette for Black Swan, which I am excited to see for a second time tomorrow night, have arrived this evening to give you a couple of brief tastes of the film which opens in limited release this Friday.
First we have a clip (via Yahoo) featuring Natalie Portman in full psychological-terror ballerina mode and so you remember, Portman told the New York Times earlier this year, “I’d studied ballet from the age of 4 to about 13, at the American Dance Theater Workshop on Long Island, which is associated with the Eglevsky Ballet, and from the time I became an actress I think I always wanted to do a ballet film.”
As for how much of the dancing in the film is Portman, Aronosfky said, “Natalie was able to give me a lot of stuff that I was unbelievably excited and impressed by… Ninety percent of what you see is Natalie, unretouched.”
Hopefully this clip gives you some idea of what’s in store, but there is much, much more this film has to offer.
Secondly, In Contention has just delivered the following production design featurette, which is a little more along the lines of standard stuff, but two videos are always better than one right?
Black Swan hits limited theaters this Friday, you can get more on the film right here and read my review from the Toronto International Film Festival right here.
