First Two Looks at Disney’s Return of ‘Winnie the Pooh’

Disney is set to release Winnie the Pooh in theaters on July 15, 2011, making for the first big-screen Pooh adventure from Disney animation in more than 35 years, and they’ve just released the first two images from the film.

In the film Pooh returns with Tigger, Rabbit, Piglet, Kanga, Roo and Eeyore as Owl sends the whole gang on a wild quest to save Christopher Robin from an imaginary culprit. It turns out to be a very busy day for a bear who simply set out to find some “hunny.” The film was created in Disney’s classic, hand-drawn art style, and inspired by five stories from A.A. Milne’s books.

The voice cast includes Jim Cummings, Craig Ferguson, Tom Kenny, Travis Oates, Bud Luckey, Peter Cullen, Gilbert Gottfried and Wayne Knight and Zooey Deschanel (Indie folk band, “She and Him”) provides the vocals for a special rendition of the “Winnie the Pooh” theme song. Stephen J. Anderson (Meet the Robinsons) and Don Hall (story artist on The Princess and the Frog) are directing.

I’ve added the two new images to this post, but you can check out slightly larger versions in the RopeofSilicon gallery right here.
