Previously titled Eagle of the Ninth, The Eagle is a Roman dramatic actioner from director Kevin Macdonald (State of Play) starring Channing Tatum and Jamie Bell set for release on February 25.
The film is set in 140 AD, twenty years after the unexplained disappearance of the entire Ninth Legion in the mountains of Scotland, and centers on young centurion Marcus Aquila (Tatum) as he arrives from Rome to solve the mystery and restore the reputation of his father, the commander of the Ninth.
Along with Tatum and Bell the film features Donald Sutherland, Mark Strong and Tahar Rahim whom some of you may know if you did the right thing and watched A Prophet, my favorite film from last year.
This film was originally supposed to hit theaters on September 24, 2010 but was bumped to late February, which is cause for a little bit of concern, but hopefully Macdonald has put together something worth watching.
