I don’t watch much television unless it’s sports so when people started to get excited late last night over a new trailer for Paramount’s The Fighter when it debuted during AMC’s “Mad Men” I was completely in the dark. A rough version then found its way onto YouTube, but I decided to hold off until this morning and sure enough, a much better quality version was officially made available for me to create an embedded version out of for you to savor.
The film, for those not in the know, is directed by David O. Russell (Three Kings) and centers on boxer “Irish” Micky Ward’s (Mark Wahlberg) unlikely road to the world lightweight title. His Rocky-like rise was shepherded by his half-brother Dickie (Christian Bale), a boxer-turned-trainer who rebounded in life after nearly being KO’d by drugs and crime. The film co-stars Amy Adams and Melissa Leo.
I haven’t watched the trailer myself, but people really seem to be getting excited for this movie, which is one of a handful Oscar prognosticators are keeping in the Best Picture race as things begin to sort themselves out.
