‘Jackass 3D’ Scores a Whopping $21.8 Million at Friday Box-Office

Well, Laremy was right when he predicted Jackass 3D would be the top film at the box-office this weekend. However, as far as Laremy’s $26.8 prediction goes, it appears it will be blown out of the water. Believe it or not, Jackass 3D made a massive $21.8 million at the Friday box-office from 3,081 theaters. This number is $10 million higher than Jackass: Number Two made in 3,059 theaters. Of course, ticket prices and the 18% 3D bump helped the third installment, but it’s obvious people want to see what these guys have to offer.

As it turns out, this is the 64th largest Friday opening ever and should it hold at $21.8 it will beat Inception‘s $21.7 million opening. This means the question now is just how much more will the film make this weekend? Should it follow a similar drop pattern to Jackass 2, we’re looking at a potential $50 million weekend. Who expected that?

Moving on, Summit’s Red looks puny in comparison to the Jackass number, bringing in $7.2 million on Friday, but that should have it coming close to a $20 million weekend, which is better than I would have expected.

The Social Network is still holding strong with a $3.3 million Friday, which will have it reaching hard to bump up against a $10 million weekend, though it looks like it may fall a bit short. Life As We Know It is still tricking audiences into theaters and made $3 million on Friday and will push for an $8 million second weekend, which will end up better than Disney’s Secretariat which made $2.8 million in its second weekend. It appears had Diane Lane blind-folded herself and tried to pin a tail on Secretariat rather than racing him to a Triple Crown win Secretariat would have done much better.

As for the complete Friday top ten, I have included it below and will be back Sunday morning with a complete box-office wrap-up.

  1. Jackass 3D – $21.8 million
  2. Red – $7.2 million
  3. The Social Network – $3.3 million
