It’s been known for some time Christopher Nolan and writer David Goyer were shepherding a new Superman film with Nolan occupying only the producer’s chair. Well, after several “who will direct” rumors ranging from Jonathan Nolan to Ben Affleck, it’s a certified fact Zack Snyder (300, Watchmen) new film… Superman (Returns Yet Again?). I’m all for it. The guy’s got style and that’s what Superman needs, much more so than substance. Yes, you read that correctly.
So I’ve got some tips for Nolan, Goyer and Snyder. I know it’s arrogant to think I can give any valuable guidance to these industry pros. Yet, early word is Goyer’s script was rushed and remains messy with Snyder even reportedly telling sources the script needs work. Plus, several of us on the web have been discussing, probably longer than any of these guys, what the follow-up to Bryan Singer’s Superman Returns should do.
Don’t get me wrong, I actually admire Singer’s vision. His film contains some great ideas and countless shots of incredibly iconic Superman imagery. Yet, the movie was flawed, and I doubt Snyder’s movie will take on the form of a direct sequel. If he wants to truly satisfy the fans, here’s what I’d like to see done.
