What I Watched, What You Watched: Installment #55

Only one movie again this week outside of seeing Step Up 3D, The Other Guys and The Last Exorcism in the theater last week. You’ve already read my reviews of Step Up and Other Guys and I’ll have a review of Last Exorcism later this month once it hits theaters on August 27. So for now… here’s what else I watched…

Wonder Boys (2000)
QUICK THOUGHTS: I’ve always heard good things about this film, but hadn’t seen it. Considering it was directed by Curtis Hanson (L.A. Confidential) and has a pretty solid cast including Michael Douglas, Tobey Maguire, Frances McDormand and Robert Downey Jr. I was expecting really great things. Overall, I’m not sure I would go shouting from the rooftops, but it’s a decent little flick. Some good laughs. Some good drama. I’m not sure why some people get overly amorous when talking about Wonder Boys, but I liked it.

I watched it on NetFlix Instant Play in HD and it looked damn good, although there was a moment when the feed froze on me so for about 2-3 minutes I wasn’t watching anything, but I got it cleared up. Below is the Hulu embed of it, which unfortunately I think only works in the States, but if you haven’t seen it and want to, you can just hit play directly below. Because guess what, Amazon isn’t selling this one directly, only some used copies exist over there.

Now it’s your turn. What did you catch in theaters or at home this past week?
