Evans Offered Captain America, Foxx is Lynch and Burton on ‘Addams’?

Evans Offered Captain America Lead: The latest casting report for The First Avenger: Captain America tells us Chris Evans (Fantastic Four) has been offered the lead role of Captain America, but neither Marvel nor CAA, Evans’s agency, would confirm the report. I assume we’ll have something official soon, but for now this is what the Internet is running with.

UPDATE: Mike Fleming at Deadline is also reporting an offer has been made to Evans, but indicates Marvel’s offer isn’t exactly grand and they are asking nine options. Yes, nine! On top of that, Evans is reportedly conflicted about jumping into another superhero role, after playing Johnny Storm/Human Torch in two Fantastic Four installments, which could be true or a negotiations tactic. Burton and Stop Motion Addams Family? Maybe Not: On early Thursday word was that Tim Burton was getting ready to direct a stop-motion animated film based on Charles Addams’ original ghoulish cartoon drawings of The Addams Family. However, MTV reached out to Burton’s agents who responded saying, “There is no truth to the story. Tim has not lined up any of his upcoming projects.” Of course, this doesn’t say he won’t direct an Addams project, which leaves the door open and merely says we shouldn’t expect it to be his next film. The original report at Deadline is quite detailed, leading me to believe something is definitely moving along, but at what pace is unknown. [Deadline and MTV]

Foxx Joins Willis in Kane and Lynch: Bruce Willis has been attached to the videogame adaptation Kane and Lynch since June 2008 and at that time it was assumed Billy Bob Thornton may join him. As Willis has remained aboard the project as Kane, Billy Bob was never formally attached, but today we learn Jamie Foxx will instead fill Lynch’s shoes for first time director Simon Crane with production set to begin in August. The Eidos Entertainment game tells the story of Kane and Lynch, an unlikely pair that team up on a mission to retrieve a stolen microchip. Kyle Ward penned the script. [Deadline]

WB Moving Forward with Final Destination 5: Even though 2009’s abysmal The Final Destination was said to be the last film in the tired franchise it is now being reported Warner Bros head Alan Horn revealed at ShoWest that they will be making a Final Destination 5, because “we can’t resist.” [Slash Film]

J-Lo Remaking Hawn’s Overboard: Jennifer Lopez will be in theaters on April 23 with The Back-Up Plan, her first film in four years and reports now say she will be star in a remake of the Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell 1987 movie Overboard for Columbia Pictures with a script by Adam Cooper, Bill Collage and Leslie Dixon. The original centered on a snooty, spoiled woman who falls off her yacht and is taken to the hospital by a local, morally challenged carpenter. When she wakes up with amnesia, he convinces her she is his wife, thereby getting a free housekeeper for his four boys. [THR]

Duhamel Back for Transformers 3: Josh Duhamel will reprise his role as Major Lennox in Transformers 3. Duhamel also confirmed the script is complete and expects filming to begin this summer for a July 1, 2011 release. [Coming Soon and Cinema Blend]
