2010 Screen Actors Guild Awards Live Blog: Live Winners and Commentary

4:59:36 PM: This is the only part of this show I truly hate, the “My name is __________, and I’m an actor.” Ugh.

5:00:26 PM: And here we go, the show begins and we are in for two hours of awards and I apologize for having little knowledge on the TV categories.

5:01:28 PM: By the way, I guess that big star was Nicole Kidman, but she was late so TNT missed her on the red carpet. Oops.

5:02:36 PM: I wonder if these actors are embarrassed when they do the “I am an actor” lines… So far John Krasinski, Edie Falco and Jeff Garland have given their stories

5:04:34 PM: Kate Hudson and Justin Timberlake are out to announce the first award.

5:05:36 PM: First award goes to Male Actor in a Television Comedy Series

5:06:07 PM: I’ll guess Baldwin since I do love that show…

5:06:20 PM: And the winner is Alec Baldwin for “30 Rock”…. I got it right!

5:09:01 PM: Basterds stars Diane Kruger and Christoph Waltz are out to present Inglourious Basterds as one of the films nominated for Best Ensemble.

5:10:41 PM: Anna Paquin and Simon Baker are the next to take the stage. Haven’t seen “The Mentalist” but love “True Blood” and can’t wait for that third season to arrive. They are presenting Best Actress in a Comedy Series.

5:11:36 PM: Toni Collette won for “United States of Tara” at the Globes so I will guess she will win here too.

5:12:24 PM: And the winner is Tina Fey for “30 Rock”, that’s 2-for-2 for that show so far. Like to see it.

5:14:08 PM: Tina Fey is the first with an NBC joke, “Happy to be there,” not really too funny, but she gets a pass because she’s usually hilarious.

5:15:59 PM: Okay, not to comment on makeup commercials, but they just had one that claimed to give woman “an airbrushed look every time you put it on.” Man, we really build confidence in our ladies eh?

5:19:15 PM: Jane Lynch, perhaps the only person I know is on the show “Glee” is now presenting. She’s a funny lady and she’s presenting a comedy montage… a celebration of the “Artistry of funny” and Ron Burgandy leads things off.

5:20:32 PM: Even House Bunny gets a shout out along with Blazing Saddles… “let me whip this thing out…” never gets old.

5:21:33 PM: Hmmmm, Madea? Followed by Some Like It Hot… I wonder what the requirements were, because one of these things is not like the other.

5:22:34 PM: Kyra Sedgwick and Ray Romano are out to ensure we stay as far away from movie nominees as possible. They are awarding TV Comedy Ensemble.

5:23:57 PM: “30 Rock” is 2-for-2 can they go 3-for-3? I say yes…

5:24:16 PM: Hmmmm, could everyone’s favorite “Glee” take it?

5:25:27 PM: On a side note, I still can’t get over how unfunny that comedic montage was.

5:26:16 PM: And the winner is “Glee”

5:27:26 PM: Gabourey Sidibe and Mo’Nique hit the stage, this has to be to present Precious as an ensemble nominee. These two ladies were fantastic in that movie and I only wish both would be awarded.

5:28:18 PM: Wow, they are really using these moments to spell out the entire film. At least this montage has dialogue unlike the Basterds montage did.

5:29:07 PM: Helen Mirren struts on stage and it looks like we will finally have a movie award.

5:29:47 PM: Mirren is handing out Best Supporting Actor… Waltz has got to take it… All agreed?

5:30:58 PM: And the winner is Christoph Waltz for Inglourious Basterds

5:31:33 PM: Waltz tied the whole “golden” aspect into his Globes speech. Will he do something similar here?

5:33:17 PM: A very humble speech… Kudos Waltz.

5:35:27 PM: They just showed a trailer for the second season of “Damages” on DVD. I loved the first season, but the second season started out horribly. Anyone watch that show? Did it end as bad as it started?

5:38:18 PM: Felicity Huffman and Alec Baldwin are here to remind us there are more TV awards to hand out than movies. Yay!

5:39:02 PM: Huffman can’t read the teleprompter, so Baldwin takes over…

5:39:23 PM: They are awarding Best Actress in a TV Drama

5:39:57 PM: Julianna Margulies won at the Globes.

5:40:26 PM: By the way, can anyone understand what Holly Hunter was saying in her clip?

5:40:48 PM: And the winner is Julianna Margulies for “The Good Wife”. This is her seventh win, she won six Actors while on “ER”

5:42:04 PM: How many people out there watch “The Good Wife”? I’ve never heard anyone talk about it and I talk to people that watch TV, I guess just the wrong people.

5:42:55 PM: Jenna Fischer and Benjamin Bratt are our next presenters and they are drinking on stage and proposing a toast. They are handing out Best Actor in a TV Drama.

5:43:54 PM: Michael C. Hall won for “Dexter” at the Globes and I love that show… I would love to see him win again here.

5:44:24 PM: And the winner is Michael C. Hall for “Dexter”

5:45:39 PM: I just can’t wait to see the next season of “Dexter” on Blu-ray… Lithgow guest starring makes it even more enticing.

5:46:23 PM: Carey Mulligan is on stage to present An Education as the third film nominated for Best Ensemble. She’s a cutie.

5:47:38 PM: Lord, the TV award domination is getting tiring. No Applegate and O’Donnell are out to award yet another one… This time for Best TV Drama

5:48:28 PM: Winner at the Globes was “Mad Men” if that means anything… which it probably does since things have pretty much lined up with the Globes so far.

5:49:04 PM: The best part of “Mad Men” is the credit sequence.

5:50:18 PM: And the winner is “Mad Men”

5:52:28 PM: Ha, they just used “a message from the Screen Actors Guild President” as a reason to keep watching. Not sure that sounds too entertaining, but I’ll stick around. Time for a coffee refill.

5:54:15 PM: COMMERCIAL COMMENTARY: Limited edition cell phone commercial. No, that’s not a gimmick, just ask anyone that bought the Samsung Matrix phone for $400.

5:57:47 PM: President of SAG, Ken Howard, is here and I decide it’s time for a page break.
