The buzz all around has been how Jeff Bridges gives some kind of stellar performance in Fox Searchlight’s late season addition Crazy Heart, a film dubbed the country music version of The Wrestler starring Bridges and Maggie Gyllenhaal, whom is also getting a small bit of buzz as a potential lead actress nominee.
The film is directed by first-time helmer Scott Cooper and features Bridges as Bad Blake, a broken-down, hard-living country music singer who’s had way too many marriages, far too many years on the road and one too many drinks way too many times. And yet, he can’t help but reach for salvation with the help of Jean (Gyllenhaal), a journalist who discovers the real man behind the musician.
Crazy Heart was quickly set for a limited December 16 release and we already have a poster (featured at the bottom of this post), two images (all of which can be found here) and the trailer, which is directly below.
I don’t think you can really determine if Bridges is going to be a winner based on a trailer, but I bet you can get some kind of vibe. Let me know what you think in the comments and stay tuned as I am sure we will be hearing more and more about this one in the near future.
