Kris Tapley at In Contention brings news that Sony Classics will be holding on to the recently acquired festival favorite Get Low until mid-2010 with no plans for a late 2009 Oscar run in an attempt to score a Best Actor nomination for Robert Duvall, which was instantly assumed once the film was picked up earlier this week.
This, of course, means I have had to once again revise my predictions as earlier this week I added Duvall to my list of Best Actor contenders.
While the move comes as a bit of a surprise considering the overwhelming chatter for Duvall, as Tapley points out it isn’t a major surprise considering the full slate of films Sony Classics is shepherding into the final months of 2009 including Coco Before Chanel, An Education, Broken Embraces, The White Ribbon and A Prophet.
