Variety reports that Columbia Pictures has acquired an untitled romantic comedy pitch from Jeremy Garelick, with Garelick to pen the screenplay as a directing vehicle for himself.
Neal Moritz will produce through his Original Film production company.
Garelick, who co-wrote The Break-Up with Jay Lavender, said the comedy is about what happens to the relationship of two male best friends and when their children fall in love.”It’s what happens when your best friend’s son knocks up your daughter,” Garelick said.
The comedy is inspired by Garelick’s own romance with his wife, Samantha. Their parents were best friends, and Garelick added the pregnancy part as a comedic device.
