“Gossip Girl” star Leighton Meester is in negotiations to star in the Sony Screen Gems thriller The Roommate, reports The Hollywood Reporter.
Christian E. Christiansen is directing, and Roy Lee and Doug Davison’s Vertigo Entertainment is producing.
The story follows Sara (Meester), a college student who is randomly assigned to a freshman dorm with a stranger named Rebecca. Things turn deadly when Rebecca becomes obsessed and begins targeting people in Sara’s life.
The role of Rebecca has not been cast.
Sonny Mallhi, an executive vp at Vertigo, wrote the script and is also serving as an executive producer.
