Haunting in Connecticut’s Kyle Gallner Moves to ‘Elm Street’

Bloody Disgusting is reporting news via producer Brad Fuller’s blog that Kyle Gallner, who recently starred as the cancer stricken child in The Haunting in Connecticut (clip to the right), has signed on to star in the new A Nightmare on Elm Street for Platinum Dunes and New Line Cinema.

The film, being directed by Samuel Bayer will remake the 1984 horror classic directed by Wes Craven and with an aim to keep the high school setting and delve deeper in the psychology of nightmares and Freddy Krueger himself.

Last week we learned Watchmen star Jackie Earle Haley had signed on to play Krueger and Bloody Disgusting had also mentioned Gallner was likely to get cast as well. On Fuller’s blog he says of Gallner, “We didn’t have the luxury of seeing [The Haunting in Connecticut] before we cast him, but his audition was so impressive that everyone at the studio and [Michael] Bay signed off on him the same day he auditioned. It was one of the few times that someone got the role in the room. He has set a very high bar for the remaining actors. I hope to have more casting news very soon.”

Gallner also had a role in Craven’s Red Eye in 2005 and will be seen in the upcoming Diablo Cody scripted thriller Jennifer’s Body, which stars Amanda Seyfried and Megan Fox. A Nightmare on Elm Street is already set for release on April 16, 2010.
