Elba and Saldana are Sylvain’s ‘Losers’

The Hollywood Reporter brings news Idris Elba and Zoe Saldana are in negotiations to join Jeffrey Dean Morgan in The Losers for Warner Bros. and Silver Pictures. Peter Berg (Friday Night Lights) and James Vanderbilt (Zodiac) penned the script based on the Vertigo/DC Comics book and Sylvain White (Stomp the Yard) will direct.

The actioner follows a Special Forces team betrayed by its handler and left for dead. The “losers” regroup in the interest of revenge, the opportunity to remove their names from a secret CIA death list and to conduct covert operations against the CIA and its interests.

Elba will play a character named Roque, the group’s scarred second-in-command who is motivated by money. Saldana will be Aisha, a cold-blooded loose cannon.

Saldana is beginning to put together an impressive filmography which currently includes the upcoming May release Star Trek as well as the hotly anticipated return of James Cameron this holiday season with Avatar. Elba will be seen in Obsessed with Ali Larter and Beyoncé Knowles later this month on April 24. Both are set to star in Bone Deep with Paul Walker and Hayden Christensen on January 8, 2010.
