Logan Lerman and Brandon T. Jackson have landed the leading roles in Fox 2000’s Percy Jackson, reports Variety.
Chris Columbus will direct the adventure/fantasy about the titular schoolboy (Lerman) whose world is turned upside-down when he discovers that his father is actually the Greek god Poseidon. The story kicks off with Percy becoming the prime suspect when Zeus’ master lightning bolt is stolen. The boy has just 10 days to find and return the stolen property to bring peace to the warring gods.
Jackson will play Percy’s best friend Grover, a satyr. Fox 2000 is looking to place a number of big-name actors in the smaller roles of the gods.
Filming is scheduled to begin in April in Europe for a February 12, 2010 release.
Craig Titley and Columbus adapted from “The Lighting Thief,” the first of five novels in Rick Riordan’s “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” series.
